Jorabat-Umiam four lane project row

NONGPOH: The KSU, North Khasi Hills district along with Rangbah Shnong of different villages along the National Highway 40 after a threadbare discussion over the alleged rampant and unprofessional manner of execution of works by the two companies engaged in the construction of the four lane project from Jorabat to Umiam, have decided to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma seeking his intervention in the matter.

During a meeting on Thursday, KSU leaders and the Rangbah Shnong especially discussed the issue of sub contracting of the construction work by ILFS to Ramky and later on NKC and YFC leading to natural disasters and loss life and property.

Unscientific earth cutting and absence of provision for footpaths for the pedestrians since the start of the project were other areas of concern.
