SHILLONG: A complaint has been lodged against one allegedly fake Multipurpose Development Society for duping over one hundred investors in the city of Rs.5 lakh.
Police said that one Balarishisha Kharwanlang was persuaded by one Jormita Khangte and Jayanta Hazarika Dutta to open a branch of M/s Jyoti Multipurpose Development Society at Lumshyiap in June this year. An amount of Rs.5 lakh was collected from 104 investors and the same was deposited in the account of one Miss Lily.
However, On October 24, when the staff of the Lumshyiap branch went to Guwahati, they learnt that there was no such office.
Balarishisha Kharwanlang later lodged a complaint in this regard at Shillong Sadar PS.
