Workshop on promotion of fish rearing held at Amlarem

JOWAI: The West Jaintia Hills District Administration organised a workshop on promotion of fish production as an enterprise at Syiem Jingsuk Secondary School, Amlarem, on Wednesday.

Acting Deputy Commissioner D.M. Wahlang chaired the workshop which was attended by farmers and fish keepers from various parts of Amlarem Sub-division.

Fishery officials including Fishery officer R. Rymbui, Dr. D. Lyngdoh, Sub-Divisional Officer G. Das and Extra Assistant Commissioner D. Blah were present on the occasion. Wahlang informed that the aim of the workshop was to discuss ways and means to increase production and marketing of fishes for the economic growth of the people in the area. Rymbui informed the gathering that there was a huge demand in the market for smoked fish and urged the people to increase production of smoked fish.
