SHILLONG: In continuation of the government scheme to aid digital learning, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will dole out mobile tablets (M-tabs) with pre-loaded content to class XII students of East Khasi Hills District at Ground 5, Polo on November 5.
The mobile tablets will be distributed to only those institutions which have already registered with EKH Deputy Commissioner’s Office to receive the same.
The scheme has been designed to technologically facilitate students with “innovative, personalized, and state of the art learning experience”.
The mobile tablets that will be distributed under the scheme are pre-loaded with educational content covering the MBOSE syllabi of Class XI & XII (Arts, Commerce & Science).
Links to CBSE and Khan Academy free online resources have also been provided in the tablet PCs. In addition, class room teaching format videos and audio books are included in the tablets as supplementary material.
Study materials and sample question papers for entrance exams for engineering and medical colleges in India are also part of the content. Besides this, a short video clip called ‘Megh-Tube’ has been included in the pre-loaded content.
‘Megh-Tube’ showcases the development activities in Meghalaya, which also includes a brief address by the Chief Minister to the student community.
The M-tabs can also access the internet through WiFi technology and external dongles where ever such facilities are made available by service providers.
Two years extended warranty on Mobile Tablet Service Centers for the tablet computers are available at each of the 11 district head-quarters in the State.
The scheme covers all Class-XII students of institutions registered with the Government. It also caters to Class-XII students of Meghalaya studying outside the State.
The IT department is also extending this scheme for teaching aid by providing tablet PCs with wider screens and LCD projectors to all registered institutions teaching higher secondary students in Meghalaya.
