Kolkata: Atletico de Kolkata defender Kingshuk Debnath on Saturday said the two-match ban handed out to striker Fikru Lemessa came as a big setback for the team.

“It is a setback for us as he is our main striker. If he is there we have the confidence to win,” Debnath told.

Along with ATK’s head coach Antonio Lopez Habas and FC Goa player Robert Pires, Fikru was suspended by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee due to breach of disciplinary code during the ongoing Indian Super League.

Debnath, a defender for Mohun Bagan in the I-League, has been playing as the right back for ATK in ISL.

“We are shuffled by the coach. It is not an issue as we can play in whichever position it is needed. Even during the pre-season camp in Spain, I was placed in the right back position,” Atletico de Kolkata coach said. (PTI)
