SHILLONG: KHADC CEM Adelbert Nongrum will induct another member from the HSPDP as Executive Member in the Executive Committee (EC) shortly.

Indicating this here on Sunday, Nongrum said he would do so since he had assured that a new EM would be inducted after the Council’s winter session.

The HSPDP had proposed the name of Mawshynrut MDC Morningstar Mawsor for the post EM.

While justifying the demand of the HSPDP, the CEM said that the party deserved to have another EM in the EC.

“It is my prerogative as the CEM to ensure that all the alliance partners of the ruling coalition – ARPA — have an equal representation the EC. It is unfair to charge HSPDP as ‘greedy’,” Nongrum said.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Nongshken independent MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri will retain her place in the EC as James Ban Basaiawmoit, an MDC from KHNAM, had agreed to sacrifice his place to accommodate another MDC from the HSPDP in the new EC.

It may be mentioned that Basaiawmoit was ready to sacrifice his place in the EC from the very beginning.

Earlier, there was a demand from HSPDP for the ouster of Kharpuri.
