Capacity building, leadership training programme organised

SHILLONG: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Shillong, organized a one-day capacity building programme on Leadership and Personality Development for Youth under the sponsorship of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, on October 31 at Pongkung village under Mawsynram C&RD Block. The programme was organised in collaboration with Seng Samla Sawsymper.

The programme was inaugurated by P. Mukhim, BDO, Mawsynram C&RD Block, in the presence of Salam D Singh, District Youth Coordinator of NYK, Shillong, NYK staff, village headman and other local authorities.

88 participants including 31 males and 57 females mobilized from different youth organizations of Pongkung area took part in the training programme.

Earlier, a ‘Run for Peace & Unity’ to coincide with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel, was organized in collaboration with the office of the BDO, Mawsynram. A total number of 150 youths took part in the run which was followed by a pledge taking led by Salam D Singh.

The training ended with a feedback session which was actively attended by the youth leaders of the area.
