Unidentified miscreant attacks cabbie in Nongpoh

NONGPOH: A local taxi driver hailing from Nongpoh had a narrow escape on Monday evening when an identified robber attacked him at Mawsyntai village in Ri Bhoi District.

The driver David Jarain, informed that an unidentified man had hired his taxi (ML 10 B – 0069) till Mawsyntai village, but on reaching an isolated place near Mawsyntai, the accused refused to pay the fare of Rs.500 and also assaulted the driver. Luckily, the driver managed to escape but the taxi’s windshield was damaged.

On Tuesday, the driver along with the Local Taxi Owners’ and Drivers’ Association, Nongpoh, lodged an FIR against the unidentified miscreant at Nongpoh PS.
