SHILLONG: Former Chief Minister SC Marak, who took up the cause of the dissident Congress legislators, is of the view that the charge sheet against Deborah Marak would not deter the party MLAs to pursue their demand for change in leadership.

According to Marak, the issue of demand for change in leadership is very much alive and any one is free to raise the matter during the meeting of the legislators with the AICC leaders who care camping in Shillong

Marak told reporters on Thursday that it was when some legislators raised unhappiness over the style and functioning of the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma that he endorsed their stand and decided to take up their grievances with the AICC.

“I found that some legislators spoke sense and hence as a senior leader I wanted to take up their grievances”, Marak added.

He, however, added that whatever the eventual decision on the leadership issue, it should be based on consensus. “If we decide on the leadership issue, we will decide it collectively and there will not be any room for disunity or split”, Marak asserted.
