Khasi States’ chiefs to meet KHADC CEM

SHILLONG: Federation of Khasi States Chiefs will meet the Chief Executive Member of KHADC on November 11 and hold a special meeting of Syiem, Lyngdoh, Sirdar, Dolloi, Nokma, village and clan chiefs and village elders on November 28 to discuss the recent letter received from the MHA on the empowerment of traditional institutions.

The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya comprising of Dorbar Ki Khlieh Nongsynshar of Ri Hynniewtrep, the Federation of Khasi States, Sirdarship, the Council of Dolloi and the Council of Nokma in its meeting held on November 6 at Demthring heard the report from John F Kharshiing, Co-Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board, on the various initiatives taken to seek the of Accession and Annexed Agreement, of 17 August 1948, especially the recent communication vide letter dated October 14 , from Under Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
