Special interactive programme
In an effort to sensitize and make the people aware of the activities and schemes of the government, the office of the District Public Relations Officer, Ri Bhoi District, organized a one-day special interactive programme on November 5 at Umtrew village. On the occasion, essay and drawing competitions were also organised and prizes awarded to the winners.
Celebration
A one-day celebration of 100 days festival was observed on November 4 at Old Tasku, Ri Bhoi District, under Umsyei Watershed of Integrated Watershed Management Project-II, jointly organised by the Soil and Water Conservation Department, Ri Bhoi Division and the Umsyei Watershed Committee. A turmeric and ginger processing unit cum rice mills of Iainehskhem SHG, Old Tasku, was also inaugurated.
Awareness programme
Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nongpoh, organised a one-day programme of theme-bases awareness and education exclusively for women at Byrnihat Auditorium Hall on Nov 4. The theme of the programme was Crime against Women both in home and work place. The programme was organised in collaboration with Lawei Phyrnai Organisation, Nongpoh and the District Superintendent of Police. Over 50 women employed in factories and industrial houses in Byrnihat and women school teachers from Byrnihat Moonlight School along with senior girl students took part in the programme.
Road inauguration
Deputy Speaker and local legislator Sanbor Shullai will inaugurate the newly-constructed Dongshiliang-Lower Lumparing road on November 8 at 10 am.
Swachh Bharat Campaign
Teachers and students of Shillong Vidyalaya Secondary School, Shillong, participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Zero Littering programme on November 1 by cleaning around one km of the road from Nepali School to Sunderland.
Office bearers elected
The Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong has elected new office bearers with Dr. W. Kharshiing as president and R.B. Rynjah as vice president, besides others.
Dorbar verification
The Dorbar Shnong Nongmensong has asked all the land owners in Langkerding Nongmensong between MUDA Complex and Catholic and Presbyterian Churches to visit the office of the Dorbar Shnong on Nov 15 before 12 noon along with land documents.
Convention
Meghalaya State Centre for Institution of Engineers (India) will organize the 30th national convention and seminar of electrical engineers at Indian Institute of Social Science, NEHU, on November 7-8 on the theme “Development of Smart Grid in India.” The recommendations of the seminar will be sent to the Government of India and all state governments.
Training programme
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nongshillong, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nongstoin, is organising a two-month skill upgradation training programme in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, mushroom cultivation, fishery and other allied topics from November 3 at the office of the KVK, Nongstoin. The programme was inaugurated by I. Papang, Assistant Engineer, Mawthadraishan.
