Awareness prog on IBDLP held at Amlarem

JOWAI: The Office of the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) in collaboration with the Basin Development Unit, Jowai organized a one-day awareness programme on Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion (IBDLP) Programme at Pdenkarong village under Amlarem Sub-Division on Thursday.

The aim of the programme was to reach out to stakeholders at the grassroots level. Over 180 people from surrounding villages of Amsarwai, Amralang, Amjajer, Amtasam etc., registered for the programme.

The chief guest of the programme was G. Das, SDO (Civil), Amlarem Sub-Division. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the programme was a way to introduce new ideas to help people stand on their own feet.

Various presentations were made on the different aspects of the IBDLP Programme which included the Role of Enterprise Facilitation Centres by D. Khonglah and IBDLP and its various missions by B. Shanpru from the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship, Shillong.

These presentations were aimed at providing an overall understanding about the structure and functioning of the EFCs and to demonstrate that the objective of the IBDLP programme is to facilitate the sustainable livelihood of people through its missions.

The programme also highlighted the efforts of the IBDLP programme to actively involve SHGs and Cooperative Societies and also to prepare a database of indigenous knowledge related to its various missions.

Other speakers in the programme included B. Shylla, T. Bareh, Range Forest Officer, Amlarem and B. Jyrwa, EAC and Nodal Officer of Basin Development Unit, Jowai. J.U. Kharpuri, EAC, Amlarem Sub Division delivered the welcome speech.
