Kohima:The Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) under Wokha district has accused the Assam Armed Police (AAP) of going against the joint decision declared during a meeting of landowners and tenants on October 28 at 155 CRPF Camp, Rengmapani in the presence of border magistrates from both Nagaland and Assam besides officers of the CRPF camp and SSB.

In a release, RALH Chairman Hayithung Kikon and Secretary C S Ovung said parties who attended the meeting had taken a resolution on ‘only crop sharing (post harvest) for this particular season and no decision was taken on ‘resettlement’.

However, AAP person-nel continued to provide assistance and support to the tenants (mostly AANLA/Maoist cadres) for resettlement even after the declaration of the joint decision. As per the decision, three Lotha Naga landowners went for joint crop harvesting in the paddy fields near the foothill section on November 6, but they were chased away by AAP at gun point.

The RALH also accused one Binod Gowla, an Adivasi MLA from Assam of forcefully harvesting the crops of the Lotha Nagas under the protection of AAP and transporting the same to Assam.

Demanding action agai-nst APP personnel for ‘disrespecting’ the joint decision of landowners and tenants, RALH said the public of Ralan Area on November 8 unanimously decided that since AAP of the Assam Government did not recognise the decision taken earlier, the same would now be treated as ‘null and void’ or invalid.

The public of Ralan area has once again requested the state government to immediately deploy suffi-cient Nagaland Armed Police and Indian Reserve Battalions on the Ralan Disputed Area Belt area since Assam Government had already established 24 camps (22 companies) in the same area creating a war like situation.

The RALH also ques-tioned the failure of the Nagaland officials to visit the dis-placed Lotha Naga villagers after four months, the release said. (UNI)
