Children’s Day programme

The Chairperson, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Meghalaya, has wished all the children of the State on the occasion of Children’s Day on November 14.

NERIE, NCERT, Umiam, is organizing a one-day programme on Children’s Day/ Bal Swachhta Diwas at Nongpoh Stadium, Ri Bhoi District from 11am to 2pm. Local school children from Nongpoh will be invited for the programme. Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Pooja Pandey will be the chief guest.

As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan under the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan the Partners of Pla Iew Club in collaboration with B.K. Bajoria School, Garo Union Secondary School and PGT College, Shillong, is organizing a Human Chain called ‘Voice of Tomorrow’ as part of the Children Day’s celebration from 11am onwards. The human chain will stretch throughout the entire route of the Bomfyle Road.

SAN-KER will celebrate Children’s Day in association with Dwar Jingkyrmen and Dr. (Mrs.) E. Syiem by releasing a children’s book Ka Jing ia Mareh Kop ki Wah at Dwar Jingkyrmen, Stoneylands, Shillong, at 10am. Following this SAN-KER along with Reach Shillong Ministries will celebrate the day with street children at SAN-KER Playground from 11:30am. Apart from dancing and singing programmes, Meghalaya xBhp Sports and Adventure Club will display bike stunts and arrange a bike ride for the street children from SAN-KER to Police Bazar.

Margaretian Alumni Association will celebrate Children’s Day with street children and other children at St. Margaret’s School premises on November 15 at 10am.

Diabetes Day Walk

Bansara Eye Care Centre in collaboration with Society for Promotion of Eye Care and Sight (SPECS) and the World Diabetes Foundation, Denmark, will observe World Diabetes Day on November 14 by joining the global Diabetes Walk Campaign which is celebrated globally. The walk will start from Madan Iewrynghep at 6:30am onwards which will be flagged off by Health Minister A.L. Hek.

Meeting

The public meeting of the Coal Miners’ and Limestone Exporters’ Organization will be held on November 15 at Nongjri at 12noon.

Cleaning drive

The Shillong Cantonment Board will organize a cleaning drive of Umshyrpi River on November 15 with the initiative of Shillong Municipal Board, local NGOs and Dorbar of surrounding areas.

Office bearers

Ka Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong have elected new office bearers with Dr. W. Kharshiing, Rangbah Shnong, Lachumiere, has been elected as the new president while R.B. Rynjah, Rangbah Shnong, Lower Mawprem, has been elected as vice president.

Exhibition

The office of the General Manager, District Commerce and Industries Centre, East Khasi Hills, organized a two-day district-level industrial exhibition in the city. Director, Commerce and Industries, W. Langstang, said that the objective of the exhibition is to open up markets for the local products.
