India Intl Trade Fair: IPR Commissioner inaugurates Meghalaya pavilion

SHILLONG: Commissioner and Secretary, Information and Public Relations department, MHK Marak on Friday inaugurated the Meghalaya Pavilion at the 34th India International Trade Fair- 2014 (IITF) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
The 34th edition of IITF, being organized under the theme “Women Entrepreneurs”, will see participation from over 6,000 exhibitors from India and abroad.
The Meghalaya Pavilion will be represented by the departments of Agriculture and Horticulture, Commerce & Industries, Tourism, Forest, Animal and Husbandry, Social Welfare, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya Handloom Handicraft Development Cooperation, Meghalaya Khadi Village Industrial Board, etc.
Apart from the Government departments, 30 entrepreneurial units sponsored by various Government departments are also participating in the Fair for promoting and showcasing their products.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee at Hamsadhwani Theatre, Pragati Maidan. The fair is organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Government of India from November 14 to 27 every year.
Keeping in line with this year’s theme, several women groups from the State like the Kyntu Shaphrang Women Self Help Group, Iooksi, Kyntulang Women Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd. Nongkynrih, West Jaintia Hills, Women for Integrated Sustainable Empowerment (WISE), Shillong, Women’s Group & Handicraft Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd. Mowkyndeng, Shiborlang Self Help Group, Mukhap, etc., are participating in the event.
