Kohima:Nagaland BJP has slammed the press statement issued by media officer to Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang that Naga Peoples Front (NPF)-BJP had vowed to strengthen ties.
In a release, BJP state unit media cell said the statement issued by media officer to Chief Minister was not an official ‘party position but their personal opinion.’
The BJP cell further clarified that no such decision was discussed or deliberated by the party and the claim as reported in the media on Thursday last, was only to confuse the common people. It said an informal meeting and a chat over tea, could not be termed as an ‘official meeting’ and any decision, if at all had even been made, cannot be taken as an official decision of NPF and BJP.
The BJP also reiterated its stand on the overall development of the state and strengthening the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Govern-ment. However, it reiterated that any such resolution with regard to the well-being of DAN has to be taken after thorough deliberation within the party.
On the claims that both parties agreed to keep aside all past differences and ‘not let any individual interests disturb the decade old coalition’, BJP cell said this was yet to be discussed by its official.
The media cell said the BJP’s decision was final and binding on any issue only after it has been discussed and decided by party officials and any individual comments would not be entertained and hence would be invalid.
The BJP state unit also questioned the NPF as to how it has only now realised the need to keep DAN coalition together when it had discarded its allies, especially the BJP since 2003 on numerous important decisions.
The NPF should have rectified its attitude towards the BJP earlier, if they wanted a strong and stable government in the state instead of hurting the sentiments of the BJP, said media cell. (UNI)
