Bodies of 4 women handed over by Godman’s Ashram to police

Chandigarh:Bodies of four women were handed over to police by the staff of ‘godman’ Rampal’s ashram in Barwala in Hisar and two other sick persons, including an infant, were taken to a hospital were they died, police said here on Wednesday. The ashram authorites handed over the bodies of four women, including that of a 70-year-old, Haryana DGP S N Vashisht told a press conference here on Wednesday. The women whose bodies have been handed over were identified as Savita (31) of Delhi, Santosh (45) of Rohtak, Raj Bala (70) of Bijnore and Malikit Kaur (50) of Sangrur in Punjab.Besides this, 20-year-old Rajni, who was in a serious conditon having a heart ailment, was rushed to Hisar hospital from the ashram at around 4 AM, but she died there four hours later, the DGP said.(PTI)

Locals vandalise community health centre after patient dies

Azamgarh:Locals on Wednesday vandalised a community health centre at Hariaya in Raunapar area and indulged in brick-batting after a patient died allegedly due to lack of treatment, a senior official said. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) BV Singh said that one Maniram Patel was brought to the Community Health Centre (CHC) this morning following complaint of stomach ache but no doctor or employee was present there. Before Patel’s family member could arrange an ambulance to shift him to another place, he died near the centre, the CMO said. When the news spread, local residents attacked the centre and vandalised it, Singh said adding, an inquiry has been ordered in the matter.(PTI)

Prisoner dies on way to hospital in Rajasthan

Jaipur:A prisoner lodged in Sikar jail died when he was being shifted to a hospital for a health check-up, police said on Wednesday. Mahendra Kumar, a suspected vehicle lifter, was arrested by police and was sent to a judicial custody for 14 days by a local court on Monday. Kumar was being taken for a check up last evening after he complained of uneasiness, but he died on his way to hospital, police said.  “Initially, his family members refused to accept the body, police said, adding, the matter is being investigated.PTI)

Girl attempts self-immolation outside DM’s residence

Bareilly:A girl on Wednesday attempted self-immolation in front of the residence of the District Magistrate here, police said. The girl reached District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar’s residence this morning and attempted to immolate herself, but was prevented by the security personnel deployed there, they said. According to police, she was harassed by one Munnu of Subhash Nagar area and this is stated to be the reason behind her step. The matter is being investigated, they added. (PTI)
