Bono suffers multiple fractures after bicycle accident

U2 frontman Bono suffered fractures in the orbit of his eye, left shoulder blade and in one in his upper arm following a bicycle accident. Bono, 54, underwent a five-hour-long surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center’s Emergency Department. His humerus broke in six different places and tore through the skin of his arm, said The Hollywood Reporter. The hospital referred to the mishap as a ‘high energy bicycle accident’ after the singer tried to avoid another rider. “(Bono) was taken urgently to the operating room… where the elbow was washed out and debrided, a nerve trapped in the break was moved and the bone was repaired with three metal plates and 18 screws. The singer also underwent a second surgery to repair a fractured left pinky finger on Monday,” said orthopaedic trauma surgeon Dean Lorich. (PTI)

Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow to spend anniversary together

Despite consciously uncoupling earlier this year,  Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are set to spend their wedding together on December 5. The 37-year-old Coldplay frontman, who is believed to have rekindled his romance with Jennifer Lawrence, will still see his wife in order to keep things as normal as possible for their two children, Apple, 10, and eight-year-old Moses, reported Contactmusic. “Chris has said he and Gwyneth want to make things as normal as possible for the children. They always do something to mark their anniversary. They also intend to spend at least part of Thanksgiving together and Christmas Day,” a source said. (PTI)

Melissa McCarthy to star in a Tinker Bell film

Actress Melissa McCarthy will play the popular fictional character Tinker Bell from J M Barrie’s 1904 play ‘Peter Pan’ in a new comedy-adventure film. Shawn Levy is directing the untitled film. The project was hatched with a fresh take on the classic tale by Levy, one that he fleshed out with McCarthy, 44, reported Deadline. ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ scribe Nicholas Stoller will write the script. Levy will produce through 21 Laps with McCarthy and her On the Day production banner. Fox is the project. (PTI)
