Woman pushed out of moving train after being robbed
Bhopal:A 29-year-old woman was seriously injured when two men allegedly pushed her out of a moving train after robbing her valuables and cellphone near Karouda railway station in Madhya Pradesh, police said. The woman, identified as Rati Tripathi working with a private company in Delhi, sustained serious head and facial injuries and has been admitted to a hospital here, they said. The matter came to light when Rati’s mother Mithya Tripathi and brother Adhyatmik did not find her in the Malwa Express’ S-7 coach, which she reportedly boarded from Delhi, at Ujjain on Wednesday where the three were supposed to meet to visit the Mahakaleshwar temple there. Rati’s mother and brother, who had already reached Ujjain from Kanpur, enquired from the train passengers who told them that two persons allegedly threw her out of the moving train following a dispute over sitting on her berth between Lalitpur and Karouda stations near Bina in MP. The woman’s mother and brother then rushed to Bina railway station where police told them that a woman was found on the tracks and referred to Bhopal following which they reached the state capital and found her at a private hospital in an unconscious state.(PTI)
Fire breaks out in Uri II power project
Srinagar:A fire on Thursday broke out in the Uri-II power project in Baramulla district of north Kashmir but no one has been injured in the incident so far, an official said here. “The fire broke out in Uri-II power project early this morning. Fire tenders from Uri and Baramulla district headquarter have been pressed into service to put out the blaze,” Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Lone told PTI. Lone said there were no reports of anyone getting hurt in the incident. An official of the NHPC, which operates the 240 Megawatt power project, said all the employees were safe. “The apparent cause of the fire is malfunction of a transformer. However, what went wrong exactly can be said only after the fire is put out and investigations carried out,” he added. Police officials said the smoke was billowing from the underground power project and attempts by personnel of the fire and emergency services department to enter the premises have not succeeded so far. The Uri-II power project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 4. (PTI)
Three injured in two separate bomb blasts
Barasat/Malda:Three persons were on Thursday injured when two bombs exploded in separate incidents in West Bengal, police said here. In the first incident, two construction labourers were seriously injured when a bomb exploded at Mohunpur in North 24 Parganas district on Thursday, police said. The incident occurred when the labourers spotted a tin box hidden under a heap of sand. As they picked it up, the can, containing the bomb, exploded injuring both of them, police officials said. The injured have been hospitalised. Another blast occurred in Malda district, injuring a man this morning.The crude bomb went off in Alampur fish market in Gajol area causing panic in the area.A passer-by suffered minor injury, police officials said. FIR against BSP MLA’s son for harassing minor girl
Lalitpur:An FIR has been lodged against the son of a BSP MLA for kidnapping and harassing a minor girl here, police said on Thursday. The FIR was registered against Surendra, son of BSP MLA Pheranlal Ahiriwar, last night on the basis of a complaint filed by the mother of the girl. According to the complaint, Surendra was harassing her daughter since last 10 months, Superintendent of Police Kiran S said. The woman alleged that Surendra, along with his two aides, took her daughter to a factory on January 20 where he drugged her and made an obscene video and was harassing her since then. The SP said that on the basis of the complaint an FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the IPC and the matter was being investigated. (PTI)
Eight policemen suspended for doing shirtless dance
Sambhal (UP):Eight constables were on Thursday suspended for allegedly doing shirtless dance in an inebriated state in a hotel here, police said. Eight constables–Vivek Chauhan, Sooraj Tomar, Saurabh Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Deendayal Singh, Hitesh Chowdhury, Sachin Malik and Hemant Bhati have been suspended, a police spokesman said. The SP had received a complaint that these constables were involved in sheer act of indiscipline by doing shirtless dance in inebriated state at a hotel here on Nov 15, he said adding, a probe is on into the matter. Scribe killed, two injured in mishap
Kaithal: A journalist was killed and two of his associates were seriously injured in a road mishap at Kultaran village near here when their car was following the police cavalcade of the arrested ‘godman’, police said on Thursday. The mishap took place when the television crew of a private channel was following the police cavalcade that was behind controversial self styled ‘godman’ Rampal’s ambulance after his arrest last night from Barwala in Hisar district and being brought to Panchkula. The car in which the TV crew was travelling hit a buffalo on the road following which the driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle, police said.(PTI)
Bodies of two women recovered
Muzaffarnagar:Two unidentified bodies of women were recovered from two separate places in the district, police said on Thursday. In the first incident, a headless naked body of 24-year-old girl was found at Pinna village under Kotwali police station in the district yesterday, police said. Police suspect that the girl was first raped by the miscreants who then slit her throat. The body has been sent for postmortem and a report is awaited, they said. In another incident, body of a 30-year-old woman was found at Sillajudi village, police said. All the accused in both these cases are absconding and efforts are on to nab them,police said. (PTI)
