ADGP(Law & Order) to probe assault of youth in state capital
Guwahati: The Assam government has asked Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) R M Singh to enquire into a incident of assault of a youth by two others in the state capital.”ADGP (law and order) RM Singh will enquire into the case of assault of a youth by some miscreants yesterday at Sadilapur of Garigaon area on the outskirts of Guwahati city,” an official release said.Singh will enquire into the case and submit a report to the Home and Political Department.When contacted, Guwahati Senior Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari told PTI that it was a fight between three teenaged youths of a locality over a trivial issue.”Some anti-social elements tried to give it a communal colour as the two parties were from different communities. However, police immediately took control of the situation and it is peaceful now,” he added.Tiwari said citizen committees and village defence parties are working in close tandem to restore complete normalcy in the area.Three youths have been rounded up and they are being interrogated, he added.Meanwhile, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital superintendent Ramen Talukdar said the youth from Sipajhar who sustained minor bruises would be discharged on Sunday. Lawmakers advocates setting up of drug testing lab
Itanagar:BJP MLA Tage Taki has advocated immediate setting up of drug testing laboratory (DTL) and drug warehouse to improve the health care delivery system and safety of patients in Arunachal Pradesh.Addressing the Arunachal Pharmacists Convention here The BJP MLA from Ziro supported both the demands of India Pharmacist Revolution convener Amitav Joyprakash Choudhury and asked the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department to prepare proposals for him to move the Central ministry as the people’s agent. Such facilities would help control 900 pharmaceutical shops to provide safe medicines to the patients, he said. Confederation of Services Association of Arunachal Pradesh secretary general Pate Marik rued that pharmacists are given least importance in the state though they mitigate human sufferings. He exhorted the pharmacists to discharge their duties sincerely as ‘Rights and duties go hand in hand’.”We want all health facilities to overcome the shortcomings but unable to influence Delhi. Help in availing all facilities as an activist in the interest of state, inhabited by Hindustanis, said H&FW director Dr Kartik Nishing told Choudhury and lauded him for his effort to set up first pharmaco vigilance centre in Arunachal State Hospital.(PTI)
Arunachal Pradesh bags Skill Development award
Itanagar:Arunachal Pradesh has bagged India’s Best Project-2014 award for implementation of skill development and employment generation in the state for the benefit of youth, mostly less-educated and school drop-outs. The award, instituted by Gurgaon-based Skoch Group dealing with socio-economic issues, was given in a ceremony at the national capital last evening, Director of Department of Skill Development and Employment Generation Subu Tabin said here on Sunday.The award, received by Tabin, was given away by Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu. Naga Par. Secy. terms medical profession as sacrificial job
Kohima: Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education and SCERT, Deo Nukhu has termed medical profession as ‘sacrificial job’ where doctors and nurses serve the patients with love and gives them hope.Speaking as the Chief Guest at the Christian Institute of Health Science and Research (CISHR) of Dimapur on the occasion of its 7th annual day-cum-thanksgiving day on Saturday, Nukhu appreciated the services of the doctors, nurses and everyone related to medical profession and said that they play a vital role in the progress of a society. Also deliberating on better medical education in the state, he urged the teaching faculties of the nursing college and others to impart proper training. He further urged the doctors and staff of the hospital to be dedicated, committed and compassionate towards the sick. (UNI)
Nagaoan district administration orders inquiry into ragging
Guwahati:Following instruction from Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Nagaon district administration today ordered an enquiry into the alleged incident of ragging at Barhampur Blind School.”Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon, P Ashok Babu has asked ADC Amitabh Rajkhowa to probe the incident that took place at Barhampur Blind School recently following directive from the Chief Minister today,” an official release said.The Deputy Commissioner said the parents of a boy alleged that their son had left the school after he was subjected to ragging.”The Deputy Commissioner has directed ADC Rajkhowa to investigate into the incident and submit a report within a week,” the release said.Babu has also asked the Circle Officer to meet the Principal of the blind school to get first-hand information about the incident, it added. Old man stung to death by bees
Aizawl: An 80-year-old man died after he was stung by a swarm of bees in a forest near Khawzawl village in Mizoram, police officials said today. The victim, identified as Lalzuia was attacked by the bees when he was clearing an area in the jungle for ‘jhum’ cultivation on Friday, they said. Writhing in pain Lalzuia could manage to reach the main road by crawling where he was found by some passers-by. He was taken to Khawzawl rural hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, they said. Woman held with heroin
Aizawl:A woman was arrested with ten grams of heroin from Bawngkawn locality here by the Anti Narcotic Squad, an official said on Sunday.The 36-year-old Vanlalmawii was caught while she was trying to sell the heroine yesterday, Peter Zohmingthanga, spokesman of the Mizoram Excise and Narcotic Department said.Vanlalmawii was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
