Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Programme
SHILLONG: The Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Programme under which youths of Meghalaya are provided training for different educational field is yielding positive result in Garo Hills.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Baskhi informed that the Government had signed an MOU with New Delhi’s Jains IAS Academy and they have just completed their first batch.
In the first batch, altogether 66 students participated in the prelims while around 100 students participated in the mains and 9-10 student have qualified for the prelims IAS examinations which is scheduled to be conducted in December.
“It is showing encouraging signs and we are really happy about it,” Bakshi said.
It may be mentioned that the Academy had started its programme in January this year and it provided civil service training and students not only from Tura but other districts are also participating in the programme.
On the other hand, the Meghalaya Government has also signed similar MOU with Sachdeva PT College which has entered its name in Limca Book of Records for having the maximum number of coaching centres in the country.
The College would provide training in fields of banking, SSC, railway, pre-medical and engineering exams and they are likely to start their centre very shortly.
“They will do survey in different schools and accordingly start their training,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also informed that a career guidance mela would also be organised in Tura during the Winter festival scheduled to take place on December 16-18.
