SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Friday informed that the State Government has implemented the file tracking system in the Secretariat to improve work culture.
While replying to questions from UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh on the steps taken to improve the work culture, the Chief Minister said that the file tracking system would help in speedy and accurate tracking of movement of files.
According to Sangma, the bio-metric access system has been put in place in the Secretariat and this system generates accurate reports of attendance of Government employees and steps for deduction for late arrival and early departure.
Mukul Sangma also said that the Government is in the process of implementing the Performance Monitoring and Evaluation System for Government departments by designing a result Framework Document.
“Departments have been asked to prepare the document,” the Chief Minister said, adding, that this would enable to evaluate the ability of the departments to deliver the targets fixed.
Moreover, as incentive to recognize excellence in performance of Government employees, the Government has initiated various awards like Meghalaya Day Excellence Awards and Meghalaya Governor’s Police Award.
The other measure adopted to improve the work culture in the State, Sangma said, is by imparting training to officers and staffs of the various departments by sending them to some of the leading institutions of the country to enhance their capacities.
Earlier, Lyngdoh also raised questions on the number of holidays in the State Government offices.
