Guwahati: Addressing an awe inspiring gathering of about 35,000 BJP workers at Sarusajai National Games stadium in Guwahati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the BJP government in the Centre was firmly committed to ensure security all the states of Northeast including Assam from any threat and put the ‘asta lakhsmi states’ on the superhighway of economic development.
He said the BJP which won the last Lok Sabha polls in the country on the plank of ‘development’ (vikash), would remain focused on overall development of the N-E states cutting across caste, creed, rich and poor divides. He called upon the BJP workers to popularize the BJP membership drive through the toll free miss call number in coming days in the region.
Regarding the contro-versial land swap deal with Bangladesh that was initialed with the neigh-bouring country by the previous Congress-led UPA government , Modi assured that the deal would be exploited by the BJP government to stop all sorts of infiltration from Bangladesh. “I will make a system to stop infiltration from Bangladesh and land swap deal will be used to ensure security of Assam, it is my promise,” Modi said.
Modi said it was beyond his imagination that such a massive crowd of arty workers would gather to listen to him in Assam in such a short notice and stated that BJP remained indebted t lakhs of its silent and dedicated workers all over the country who are the strength of the party.
“It is a different issue that I am now entrusted with a responsibility, but my most important cre-dential is that I am a worker of the BJP party,” Modi said to the cheers of the crowd of party workers.
He said BJP has for the first time fought elections on the single issue of development and forced other parties to consider this issue prominently.
“BJP government has only one motto and it is development. No party had the courage to fight elections on the development issue,” he said.
In Maharashtra, Har-yana and now in Jharkhand, all parties are talking about develop-ment,” he said. “BJP doesn’t do politics on the basis of casteism, communalism or regio-nalism. We don’t accept that road. BJP always did politics of nationalism. We believe in development with all and for all,” he added.
He reiterated BJP government’s commitment to uplift the poor of the country and pointed out that the ‘Jan dhan’ yojana launched by the BJP government had opened the doors of the banks to the poor who are soon going to be benefited from the banks’ resources.
He informed that every week one crore bank accounts were being opened in the country because of Jan Dhan yojana.
