Shillong: The outlawed GNLA has asked the State Police to hand over to it the work of crushing small-time goons.

In a statement issued on Monday, one Garo Mandei Ch Marak, who claimed to be the joint publicity secretary of GNLA, said it was a disgrace that the police had failed to stop small-time goons who were blackmailing and kidnapping people for mere Rs.5,000.

“In any event the police end up being wasteful and unequipped for tackling these small time dacoits. Police better leave the employment and hand over the task of eliminating these goons be carried out by us. We will crush them just in a few days,” the statement claimed.

The statement further alleged that Police were harassing members of the public by grabbing their mobile phones accusing them of being militants.
