Kohima:The Great Hornbill Adventure Trial (GHAT), a part of the Nagaland Hornbill Festival, was held at Tesophenyu Village Public Ground under Tseminyu sub-division of Kohima district yesterday, which is being organised by the Tourism Department of Nagaland and managed by NAC.
According to official sources today said during which the host village showcased their rich culture and traditional way of life like fire making, soil thrashing, cotton spin, song of weeding, Rengma festival song, merry making dance, feast of honour, bamboo whistle flute and technique of warrior.
Other highlights of the programme were indigenous games event which were performed by the village youths were high kick, chair game, leg touching, pushing and war cry after which the indigenous game competition was held among the visiting tourist.
A brief history of Tesophenyu village was presented by Tenino Tep, while welcome speech was delivered by Mezasing Jemu Village Council Chairman Tesophenyu.
The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner and Extra Assistant Commis-sioner of Tseminyu, Dobhashi, Rengma Hoho official, head of offices, public leaders and villagers under Tseminyu sub-division.
Sources said that the five-day adventure extrava-ganza, which is being organised by Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC), will cover four districts of the State, Kohima, Peren, Zunheboto and Phek as the destination districts, as part of the Tourism Department’s initiative, in taking the Hornbill Festival to the other parts of the State.
Bordering on the idea of helping the participants know more of the places and cultures of the different tribes of Nagaland, the event which carries a cash prize of Rs 10 Lakh to the winning duo, has been made open to locals as well as tourists. (UNI)
