Death anniv
The Department of Arts and Culture will organise a programme on December 18 to commemorate the 74th death anniversary of U Soso Tham, on the State Central Library premises.
Cleaning drive
As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Rynjah Dorbar Shnong will organise a cleaning drive on December 12 from 9am. All shops in the locality have been asked to remain closed on the day.
A cleaning drive was organized by residents of Dakopgre, Tura, under the Dakopgre Ladies Club on Dec 8. Members of SHGs, Dakopgre Youth Socio-Cultural Club, local headman and NGOs participated in the drive.
Competition
Bongo Badhu Mahila Samity recently organised art competition and sports for children at Buddha Vidya Niketan High School. The prize distribution was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister A.L. Hek.
Fine realized
Shillong Police on Monday night conducted a checking at Barik Point and detected 21 vehicles including 16 LMVs and five trucks which violated the ‘No Entry’ between Civil Hospital and Barik Point. An amount of Rs.19,500 was realized as fine from the violators.
Coaching
Meghalaya Upliftment Network, a registered body, will conduct coaching for Engineering and Medical entrance examinations, admission for which is underway. Recently, it a appointed office bearers including Elton Cliff Warjri as chairman, Andrew Jyrwa as vice chairman cum chief organising secretary and Romen Dkhar as general secretary, besides others.
Yoga event
Art of Living Shillong will organise the ‘Yogathan 2014’ at the 5th Ground, JNS Complex, Polo, Shillong between 8am and 9.30am on Dec 14 and simultaneously at Jowai on the same day. The entry-free event is a part of a good health campaign of the organisation.
AIDS Day
A programme to observe World AIDS Day was organized by Edu Wel Mission Society at Umsning recently. Fr. Gerald Khongjee, Director, Social Service Centre, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Annual meet
The annual general meeting of the Shillong Central Rongali Bihu Committee will be held on Dec 14 at 10am on the Assam Club premises.
Religious visit
Satradhikar Sri Sri Nani Gopal Deva Goswami of Dakhinpat Satra, Majuli, Assam, will visit Asom Krishti Kendra Namghar, Dhankheti, Shillong, on Dec 17and 18. He will attend the Naam Prasanga in the evening of Dec 18 at the Namghar.
