232 police personnel complete basic training

NONGSTOIN: Overcoming severe constraints, as many as 232 male constables completed their basic training at the Headquarters of 4th MLP Battalion in Sohpian, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District on Thursday.
Undeterred by poor infrastructure at the training centre, the 232 trainee constables drawn from the 3rd, 4th, 5th and the 6th Meghalaya Police Battalions and from different districts passed out after completing their basic training.
The trainees consisted of four constable from the 3rd Battalion, 36 from the 4th Battalion, 21 from the 5th Battalion, 21 from the 6th Battalion, 63 constable recruits from Shillong, 21 from Jaintia Hills, 14 from Ri Bhoi district, 33 from the Meghalaya Police Radio Organisation and 19 from the Fire & Emergency Services.
F.D Sangma, Inspector General of Police, Meghalaya, reviewed the passing out parade in the presence of A. Sun, Deputy Inspector General, S. Thamar, AIG (E), S. Nongtnger, SP, WKH, and others dignitaries.
Addressing to the gathering Sangma congratulated the 232 recruits for completing their training, and mentioned that the State would be on the path of development if the police force sticks to their duties with utmost sincerity and without any fear.
Stating that militants were active in the State and the police force had lost a number of its brave warriors, he exhorted the police constables to work hard and face the challenges posed by militants.
He also expect asked the new recruits to provide selfless service to the people and to attend the cherished goal of making police ‘true friends and protectors’ of law abiding citizens.
Commandant of the 4th MLP Battalion, Sohpian, G.D Kharwanlang, compliment the trainees who had stood up to the rigorous demands during training and had come out with flying colours.
He informed that the recruits have been imparted training on physical fitness, drill, weapons, handling, field craft, tear smoke, mob control, basic aspects of law like IPC, CrPC and human rights, gender equality, search and rescue during disaster and physical and mental training for vigorous police work in different situations.
The all round Best Recruit Award was presented to Rulling Nongsiej, for his excellent performance during the training.
