The Voice Hunt set to take stage from Dec 20

NONGSTOIN: The Voice Hunt, the first of its kind in West & South West Khasi Hills District conducted by the A=Apple Society, Nongstoin in collaboration with the District Arts & Culture Society is set for auditions in four different blocks.

The show will now spread its wings in different parts of the Western region.

At a press conference held on Sunday at the office of the Apple Society, Chairman cum Director of the Apple Society, Kyntonbor Mawsor told pressmen that the auditions for the Voice Hunt of South West Khasi Hills will be held on December 20 at Mawkyrwat, Maharm Higher Secondary School from 9.am onwards.

He added that there is no age limit for the contestants to participate in the show.

The judges will be from East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and from South West Khasi Hills.

The Director, Mawsor said, “the show was the first of its kind in our region and it is open only for the resident of west & South West Khasi Hills and we are expecting more response”.

From among the many contestants, 5 contestants will be chosen from each blocks.

Programme Co-ordinator of the Apple Society Ronald Syiem added that the selection system in the the top 8 contestants will follow a 60-40 basis in which 60% will be selected by the judges while the other 40% will be chosen through public voting.

Syiem also said that the contest is open to solo, duet, trio or group participants.

The winners of the Voice Hunt will be awarded cash along with an album recording contract.

The organizers have approached the telecom department to grant them public voting through text messages but they have not received a green signal as yet.

The group is gearing up for their upcoming show and is urging participation from all who are interested in participating at the show.

The Programme Co-ordinator also told that the auditions was all set in four major blocks of West & South West Khasi Hills, where the first audition was held in Mawkyrwat on December 20, Mairang on December 22 at Tirot Singh Community Hall Pyndengumiong, Riangdo on December 27 at BDO Hall and the last audition will be held in Nongstoin on December 29 at Bishop Hall.

Participants can also download the entry form from the Apple website, www.applesociety.in and they can submit the same it at the time of audition.

Mawsor also told pressmen in the press conference that the A= Apple Society is a registered NGO of Nongstoin that endeavours and strives to involve the youth of West Khasi Hills District in various fields of music, dance and sports.

This endeavour is aimed to bring out the best in the youth of the district, so as to provide a platform for them to showcase their hidden skills and to assist them to further develop their passion.

He told that the A=Apple Society is a nonprofit organization inspired by the power of music and dedicated to the discovery and development of the talented musicians through competitions, festivals, and other performing opportunities.

“Our team comprises of exceptional individuals who share common vision, passion, and determination for success. Together, we hope to create a unique environment where talented musicians from the twin district of West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills District, whether they play an instrument or sing, will be able to come together, share their talent, and have a chance to achieve their dreams” Mawsor said, he also added that, our mission also is to provide a platform for all people-regardless of race, religion, age, sex, or nationality-to harness the power and beauty of music to create an all-encompassing force for peace harmony and a sense of brotherhood throughout the District of West & South West Khasi Hills.
