New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated his coun-terpart Sinzo Abe on being re-elected for a third term as the Prime Minister of Japan and said he looks forward to continuing to work closely with him to strengthen the bilateral ties.

“Congratulations @AbeShinzo on your victory in the elections. Japan will scale newer heights of progress under your able leadership,” Modi tweeted. Abe scored a big win in the snap polls with his Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its partner Komeito Party bagging two-thirds of the seats in the 475-member Lower House of Parliament.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with @AbeShinzo to strengthen the relations between India & Japan,”. Modi and Abe share a close personal relationship which was reflected when the Indian leader travelled to Japan in August. (PTI)
