Actor Anupam Kher, who has played diverse roles in his over three-decade-long career, doesn’t like stepping into someone else’s shoes on-screen, but he would love to play iconic villain Mogambo, if given a chance.

The actor is not new to negative roles – in the beginning of his career he sent shivers down the audience’s spine as Dr. Dang in “Karma”.

When asked which of the iconic roles in Bollywood he would like to portray, he said: “I am not in favour of doing any role of anybody on-screen again because I think the roles I have played so far were perfect, according to the situation and the career that time.

“But if I get a chance and if ‘Mr. India’ is made again, then I would like to do Mogambo’s role.”

“Mr. India”, directed by Shekhar Kapur, was not only a hit but also had numerous hit one-liners. This film is best remembered for Amrish Puri’s portrayal of Mogambo and his famous one liner – “Mogambo khush hua”.

Although, Anupam feels it is impossible to match the same dimension that late Amrish Puri added to Mogambo’s character, he would like to interpret it in his own way.

“I would love to do it with a different dimension because I feel it is impossible to give the same dimension to the character as given by Amrish Puriji,” said the actor. (IANS)
