New Delhi: A lunch with Arvind Kejriwal to collect funds for assembly election has fetched more than Rs 20 lakh on Sunday.

Unlike other AAP events, where such lunches and dinners are organised by the party or its frontal wings, the event was organised by AAP s Greater Kailash assembly constituency unit, former Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

“We have until now collected more than Rs 20 lakh, but the figure will rise as many people have promised to give their cheques tomorrow (Monday). So, we are not counting that amount. “Also, some people have promised logistical support like providing a xerox machine, desktops and printers,” said the former transport minister.

He added that unlike similar earlier events organised by AAP, this event was different as it mostly had people from the Greater Kailash constituency.

Unlike other events like lunch with traders, where around a majority of the people were traders, this had a blend of IT professionals, businessmen, professors from Greater Kailash constituency, the former AAP MLA said.

Ahead, of the assembly election, Aam Aadmi Party has organised similar events.

The one organised by the Mumbai unit of the party helped it secure donation of Rs 91 lakh, while the lunch organised by AAP s trader wing, saw fund of Rs 50 lakh.

The party has set a target of Rs 30 crore of fund collection, ahead of Delhi assembly election. (PTI)
