Guwahati: In view of ever increasing allegation of corruption against his ministers and officials in the media and public forums, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi today stated that he had taken serious note of corruption related cases reported in media and other sources and directed the concerned departments to probe into the cases thoroughly.
An official communiqué issue here informed that Gogoi had directed to initiate investigations within 15 days in such cases. The Chief Minister said that allegations of corruption would be probed
thoroughly and appropriate action would be taken against those found guilty.
The Chief Minister said the members of the public could also lodge complaints relating to corruption. There have been media reports and allegations of corruption in some of the key departments in Assam
like agriculture, power, education, public works, rural development etc. which have painted the
government headed by Gogoi wrong before the public.
Gogoi recently admitted that his government could not fulfill all the promises it had made to the people and which, he said, was not possible too. “You show me one such government in the world which could deliver cent per cent. But that doesn’t mean that we have not tried to deliver,” Gogoi said.
