State rings in New Year with fireworks, music

SHILLONG: Meghalaya along the rest of the world on Wednesday rang in the New Year with people across the State bidding farewell to 2014 and welcoming 2015 with celebrations featuring fireworks, music, and dancing.Family celebrations, music and dance parties and display of fireworks marked the celebrations of the New Year in several parts of the country. New Year revellers thronged restaurants, markets, malls and other popular hotspots which were decked up for new year celebrations even as security was beefed up in the capital city and other parts of the state to thwart any untoward incident. A large number of people witnessed Shillong Midnight Festival organized by the government of Meghalaya at Khyndailad junction.
