Naga Council appeals ACAUT – NSCN (K) for restrain
Kohima:The Naga Council, Dimapur has appealed to the NSCN-K and Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) for restrain, because the tussle between them will not serve the purpose for maintenance of peace and tranquility. In an appeal to Naga Council President T Bangerloba and General Secretary Ntsemo Ngullie stated that the tussle started when one NSCN (K) activist was arrested by Dimapur for throwing bomb on a LPG cylinder store in Dimapur town. The considered view of the Naga Council is that the law breakers are to be dealt according to the law of the land and urge upon the government to award befitting punishment. It also stated that of late, the Naga Council is disturbed to go through the disturbances creating fear in the mind of the people by throwing bombs in the business establishments in and around Dimapur.The appeal note also condemned such act of violence, intimidations and threatening disturbing the peace and tranquility in the name of Naga political movement by certain individuals and sections of people. Assam Rifles man killed in encounter
Tezpur (Assam):An Assam Rifles man was killed in an encounter with NDFB(S) insurgents in Sonitpur district, a senior official said here on Saturday. The encounter took place at Seijosa along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border Friday night. A group of 12 NDFB(S) insurgents came to Assam side and when the security personnel challenged them, they started firing and the man died in the ensuing shoot-out, Assam Rifles Commanding Officer Col Rohit Pratap Singh Thakur said. The deceased, Ramesh Pratap Singh, hailed from Uttarakhand. NDFB(S) insurgents massacred 81 persons in Sonitpur, Chirang and Kokrajhar districts in a series of attacks last month. (PTI)
Difficulties of small town surgeons highlighted
Guwahati:The difficulties encountered by small town surgeons in managing laparoscopic surgery in patients of non-traumatic acute abdominal pain and pregnant women was highlighted by Association of Surgeons of India, Assam chapter president Prof Subhash Khanna at 74th Annual Conference of the Association in Hyderabad. Delivering the prestigious Dr Santok Singh Anand Endowment Lecture at the recently concluded Conference, Prof Khanna explained the feasibility and safety of procedures in such cases, besides the safety measures that need to be implemented while operating on pregnant women, a press release said. As the pioneer in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures in North East region, Dr Khanna shared his experience of treating such patients with success through his experience of over 20,000 Laparoscopic surgeries done so far since 1992, said a press release here today from Swagat Endolaparoscopic Surgical Research Institute here where he has been rendering his services for several years. Air India demands compensation on ATR flight operation
Agartala: Responding to the demand of Tripura government to bring more flights in Agartala-Kolkata route, Air India has proposed to start a small ATR aircraft of Alliance air provided want an assurance from the state to bear the loss, if incurred anyway. State transport department officials here on Sunday stated the state government has turned down the proposal of Air India and made it clear that the state cannot pay compensation towards any claim of loss in fleet. Moreover, the small old flights are not preferred by the passengers and now also we don’t recommend anymore ATR aircraft in Agartala sector due to safety reason,” a senior official of the department said.He however, pointed out that to manage the passenger pressure we want at least two more 180 seats Boeing aircrafts in both way to Agartala-Kolkata and Agartala-Delhi via Guwahati, the officials said adding that to increase the fleets of private airlines considering passenger pressure.(UNI)
