New Delhi: The Supreme Court today rejected the bail plea of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu after going through the medical report submitted by AIIMS doctors who said that there was no need for immediate surgery.
The apex court passed the order after relying on the AIIMS doctors medical report. The doctors, in its report, said the accused need not require immediate surgery.
The Supreme Court granted two weeks’ time to the accused jailed godman’s lawyer to look into the report submitted by the medical board consisting of AIIMS doctors.
Earlier, Asaram had applied for bail in the apex court by submitting medical report of Jodhpur hospital which stated that he was suffering from ‘trigeminal neuralgia’ and need surgery.
The controversial godman was arrested in 2013 after 16-year-old girl filed a complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her at his ashram in Jodhpur. (UNI)
