Headmen’s body urges vilagers to attend public hearing

Inclusion of Warsan Lyngdoh villages in South West Khasi Hills

NONGSTOIN: The headmen of 18 villages in Warsan Lyngdoh area, under the banner of Synjuk Nongsynshar Shnong Warsan Lyngdoh have urged upon the people of the area to attend the public hearing on January15 which will decide the fate of the villages which, according to the local populace, were forcibly added to South West Khasi Hills District.
The public hearing has been convened by the West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner following a High Court direction on the matter. The hearing will decide whether the villages will stay with South West Khasi Hills or be assigned place in the West Khasi Hills map.
Secretary of the Synjuk, AK Bani said that all commercial establishments will remain closed during the hearing. He added that “outsiders will not be allowed to talk or interfere during the hearing.
