Assault

On January 11 at around 1.30 am, five persons, viz., Bantei Suting, Kyrshan Kshiar, Davis Marboh, Jerry Marboh and Hilarious Marboh assaulted David Nongrum and his brother Daniel Nongrum at Nongrah, Shillong. Victims sustained injuries and were shifted to NEIGRIHMS Mawdiangdiang.

One dead

On January 10 at about 11.30 pm, one unidentified male person (40/50 yrs) was found lying unconscious at Golf Links, Shillong. He was removed to CH Shillong, where he died (Jan. 11).
On January 9, one Mohan Adima Sangma (35 yrs) fell down into a gorge at Noasora Bagli (SWKH) while trying to pull his motorcycle and died on the spot.

Illegal immigrant

On January 10 at around 12.20 am, BSF personnel of Langtila BOP apprehended one Abba Ezeke (46 yrs) of the Republic of Ivory Coast, while he was crossing over to India at Langtila BOP (WJH), with an expired Passport and Visa. He was handed over to the Police.

NGT ban violation

On January 10, G. Warjri, MCS accompanied by Police detected 15 labourers, viz., Khian Bujal, Narayan Rai, Ganesh Chettri, Dilip Marak, Kamal Hajong, Raj Rai, Munab Barman, Dil Kumar Rai, Md. Abarsul Majid, Md. Aman Ali, Md. Abdul Rehman, Md. Tajbor Rehman, Jagadish Yadav, Md. Salim Uddin Chowdhury and Md. Ahmed Ali, while they were extracting coal from the quarry of E. Phawa and Topas Dkhar at Mukhep (EJH) and Khliehriat area (EJH), in violation of NGT order.

Theft

Praful Verma of M/s Assam Motors, Motphran lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on January 10, one Moloius Pyngrope was apprehended while stealing batteries and other materials from his shop. Police arrested the accused.
On January 9 at about 2 pm, three persons, viz., Francis Pariong (22 yrs), Anselin Lyngkhoi (20 yrs) and Ambol Wahlang (25 yrs), stole construction materials from the godown of Overbel Byrsat at Thipjapung near Seinduli village (WKH). Police arrested the accused persons.

One knocked down

On January 10 at about 7.40 am, one truck (AS-01W-3906) fatally knocked down Polin Nonglang at Mawlonghat, Shillong.
On January 10 at around 9.30 pm, one vehicle (number not known) knocked down Miss Dapynhunlin Khyriem (15 yrs) at Mawlai Phudmawrie, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to CH Shillong.

Fraud

Gajang Marak lodged a complaint at Bajengdoba PS that on the night of January 8, he received one anonymous call in which the caller identified himself as a Branch Manager of SBI Bajengdoba and asked about his and his wife’s ATM details. On January 9, he found that Rs. 42,000/- and Rs. 1 lakh have been fraudulently transferred from his and his wife’s accounts respectively.

Bangladeshis held

On January 7, during mobile patrolling along the Indo-Bangladesh international border in South Garo Hills, BSF personnel of Gasuapara BOP apprehended eight Bangladeshi nationals viz., Ashraf Mohammed (19 yrs), Rafiq Ul Islam @ Khalil (20 yrs), Abdul Rahim (30 yrs), Suraj Mia (20 yrs), Abu Hanif @ Arif (18 yrs), Md. Abdul Hussain (18 yrs), Shati Kul (25 yrs) and Nazmul Hussain (19 yrs) and recovered one 7.65mm pistol, one magazine, one round of ammunition, daggers and one cell phone with Banglalink SIM card. They were handed over to Baghmara PS.

Threat

Halinda Kharbina lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on January 3 at about 7 am, her son Welldone Kharbina threatened her and her family members with dire consequences at Ummulong (WJH).

Accidents

On January 11 at about 5.30 pm, one Maruti car (ML-05A-0986) driven by Edmund Khonglah dashed against a scooter (ML-05L-7569) ridden by Thangjangawng Simte (21 yrs) near St. Edmund’s College, Shillong. As a result, the scooter rider sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.
On January 11 at about 11.30 pm, one truck (AS-01AC-2777) driven by Peter Kharsohnoh dashed against one Maruti Alto car (ML-05J-3497) driven by Bansil Kharir near St. Edmund’s College, Shillong. As a result, the driver of Alto car and one occupant sustained injuries and were removed to CH Shillong.
On January 9 at about 7 am, one truck (AS-11AC-6064) dashed against a hillock at Ratacherra, NH-44 (EJH). As a result, the handyman of the truck died on the spot, while the driver sustained injuries.
On January 8 at around 8 am, one dumper truck (NL-02-8019) capsized at Umtyra, NH-44 (EJH). The truck was transporting coal in violation of NGT order.
