‘MLPC Act-2014 to come in force from Jan 15 in Mizoram’

Aizawl: Mizoram Excise and Narcotics minister R Lalzirliana on Monday said the newly legislated Mizoram Liquor Prohibition and Control (MLPC) Act, 2014 will be in force from Thursday next. The MLPC Act would replace the Mizoram Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1995 imposed in the state for the last 17 years. Lalzirliana said though the MLPC Act was already notified in the official gazette on January 7 and would be in force from January 15, opening of retail wine shops in the state would be only from March next. He said preparations were in full swing to begin selling of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the state and hinted that PSUs like the Mizoram Food and Allied Industries Limited (MIFCO) would look after the retail wine shops in Aizawl and other seven district headquarters. Border haat along Tripura-Bangladesh border

Agartala: The first border ‘haat’ or market along Tripura-Bangladesh frontier at Srinagar in South Tripura district, about 140 km from here, will be inaugurated tomorrow, officials said on Monday. Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her Bangladesh counterpart Tofile Ahmed will jointly inaugurate the first border ‘haat’ or market along Tripura-Bangladesh border. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and MP Jiten Chowdhury will also be present on the occasion, Shyamal Dev, senior manager of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) said today. Sitharaman has sent a letter to the Tripura government giving her consent to inaugurate the border haat on January 13, Dev said. (PTI)

Central ministries to have interactive websites

Guwahati: Information on all Central government schemes would soon be such a mouse-click away, along with real-time reply to queries even. Union Minister of state for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said here on Sinday that all ministries of the Central Government will soon have live and interactive websites to disseminate information about government’s schemes and activities faster, in tune with the new age social media.A new social media wing would be created in the I & B Ministry for dissemination of information in real time and e-book of all central ministries would be made available for the public soon, he added.
