Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today emphasised on the need for upgradation of Doordarshan and radio stations in the state to reach out to the people in far-flung areas along the international border.
During a meeting with Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore at New Delhi on Friday, Sharma stressed on improving the quality of programme and for more mobile TV vans in the state, a Raj Bhawan statement informed.
He reiterated for Direct to Home (DTH) sets to the people in border areas and suggested for setting up of more Very Low Power Transmitters (VLPT) in less accessible places.
The statement said the Governor, during a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on January 14, had emphasised on the urgent need for strengthening the efforts in developing border areas along the international and interstate boundaries along with road connectivity projects.
Sharma and Singh also discussed on border area development and coordination between security agencies and the state government to instill sense of security among the people.
Sharma also called on the Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu and stressed on expediting the railway projects in the state, particularly the Murkongselek-Pasighat-Tezu-Parasuramkund-Rupai route, which would have immense economic impact, the statement added. (PTI)
