TURA: The decision by jailed GNLA chairman Champion R Sangma to walk away from the armed outfit he once jointly established with Sohan Shira has clearly not gone down well within the ranks of the banned organization which has mocked  him and accused the former deputy superintendent of police of an ‘absence’ of qualities.
“The leaders of GNLA bear better moral qualities than Champion R Sangma, though he is a former MPS officer. He no longer bears any qualities to become a leader of GNLA or the people of Garoland,” attacked Garo Mandai Marak, the GNLA Facebook account holder in the social website on Tuesday.
The armed rebel outfit, which once stood firm by the side of their chairman following his arrest in Bangladesh and subsequent ‘deportation’ to India, no longer has the same views.
Following the chairman’s alleged sudden resignation from the group through a Facebook announcement, the GNLA has been going hammer and thongs against their former leader for ‘betraying’ their cause.
“It is not necessary to be highly educated to become a leader or to lead the struggle for freedom,” pointed out Garo Mandai Marak in an apparent criticism of Champion who is known to be well educated with several qualifications. “His (Champion’s) work is to only open fake facebook accounts in the names of Sohan D Shira, Bryan Sim R Marak, Rafius Marak, Dalbin Marak, etc, just to defame their name and image and bring disgrace to the GNLA organization,” alleged Garo Mandei Marak.
Taking a dig at their former chairman for his alleged ‘antics’ the GNLA leader goes on to term him as  someone with an unsound mind.
“He (Champion) can only update and talk nonsense in different accounts, like in the past, in the names of Togan Nengminza, Mikkim and now as Kaltong Mankin. He can never become a good and sincere leader like others,” accused Garo Mandai Marak while revealing the several facebook accounts created by the former rebel leader.
