Itanagar:Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki while unveiling sops for the state media fraternity on Tuesday called upon the members of the Fourth Estate to play a pro-active role to highlight the state’s abundant resources to woo tourists from far and wide.
“The gap between mainland India and Aruna-chal can be bridged if media play an active role in pro-moting the state in a positive way,” the chief minister said after presen-ting the maiden ‘News & Views’ and ‘Frontier Films’ awards instituted by Fron-tier Films proprietor Taro Chatung, here.
Terming the event as ‘a good beginning’ to encou-rage budding journalist and film makers of the state, Tuki disclosed that the state despite having abundant talents, making films and documentaries were commercially not viable due to low population.
While highlighting various initiatives of the state government to uplift the developing media fraternity in the state, the chief minister informed that the Centre had agreed in principle for setting up a regional Film and Television Institute in the state in the line of national film and television institute and Kolkata-based Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute.
“The state government is working out to identify a suitable land for the institute wich will provide ample job opportunities for our youths,” he said adding, the state government was also contemplating to create more such infrastructure to attract national and interna-tional film makers. (PTI)
