State awards, police medals conferred

SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo on Monday awarded the U Tirot Sing Award for Excellence in Arts and Literature to eminent writer and historian Rev. Dr. Overland Snaitang, the Pa Togan Sangma Award for Social Service to Rev. Greater Burn R. Marak, a former State Police official, and the U Kiang Nangbah award for Excellence in Sports to Bansaralin Dhar, a promising archery player of the State, during the official celebration of the 66th Republic Day here on Monday.
The President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service were also announced during the celebration.
Deputy Superintendents of Police Aditya Goenka, and TC Chako, Sub-Inspectors Goera T. Sangma and Krishna Prasad Powdel and Battalion Constable Triplepearl Pasi were awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
Additional Superintendent of Police Bibhuti Purkayastha and Sub-Inspector Sebastian Swett were awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Sub Fire Officers Satya Prasad Dutta and Kynsaibor Roynee were awarded the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service.
