Itanagar: Calling upon to rise above local constra-ints and tribal affiliations for the development of the state and country as a whole, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma appealed the elected members to spend as much time as possible in their respective constituency to ensure all central and state govern-ments projects are being implemented properly.
Delivering his ceremonial address on the third session of the Sixth Legislative Assembly here on Wednes-day, the Governor said the elected representatives should play a positive role to encourage, embolden and positively guide the civil society and efforts must be made to guarantee trans-parency and public partici-pation in the governance.
Emphasising on rain water harvesting system, he said, the state experiences eight months heavy rainfall during the year, but during the winter season, there was scarcity of water, particu-larly in urban areas.
The system made manda-tory in building construc-tion and at the same time it must be encouraged on renewable energy, like solar and wind power, the Governor pointed.
Commenting on central flagship programmes- Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana and measures to conserve water and energy launched by Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi, the retired Lt Gen said, these vital national development initiatives are required special attention from the members of the august House.(UNI)
