Three Maoists surrender before Odisha Police
Rourkela:Three Maoist cadres on Friday surrendered before the state Police here on Friday taking the figure to nine this year. They were identified as Joseph Munda (35), Siprien Munda (29) and Panallal Bhakta (17). The trio was part of the Chotanagpur Division and active in the Sambalpur-Deogarh-Sundergarh division. Joseph was involved in the murder of Deonath Singh at Langalkanta village, ANM Centre blast case and Sanabalijore school building blast case. “I was partly forced and also influenced by the Maoists. But, when I saw their top leaders enjoying lives at the cost of the poor people, I decided to quit the outfit,” Joseph told reporters. Sipiren was working in Exon Steel at Jharsuguda, after quiting the Maoist outfit. He was involved in the blast of school buildings at Sanabalijore and Relhatu. “I was forced to join the organisation as they put a gun on my father’s head. For sometime, I thought I was in the right place. But, gradually I could understand what they were doing. It was nothing, but amassing huge money and stopping all the development works coming to our region,” he said.(PTI)
Man kills father-in-law for opposing affair
Kishanganj:A man allegedly killed his father-in-law for opposing affair with his sister-in-law in Kishanganj town of Bihar, around 370 km northeast from the state capital during the wee hours on Friday.Kishanganj Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Mohammad Qasim said the incident happened at Nunia Tola in Dumaria locality of the town and the deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Chauhan (60). He said while the culprit identified as Munna Chauhan is absconding, his wife Pappu Devi and sister-in-law Ruby Devi have been arrested from Kishanganj bus stand while trying to flee after the crime. They have been charged with being accomplices in the act. An FIR has been registered on the statement of deceased person’s wife Dhaniya Devi, who has named her son-in-law and two daughters in it.The body has been sent for postmortem and the police is conducting raids to nab the absconder. Separate OPDs for swine flu patients in Rajasthan
Jaipur:Concerned over the increasing number of swine flu deaths in the state, the Rajasthan government has decided to set up separate out-patient departments (OPD) in government hospitals for patients with symptoms of the disease. Thirty three persons have died so far in the state due to the disease. “These OPDs will be set up in all the government hospitals across the state. Besides this, we will start door-to-door screening in and around the areas from where swine flu patients have so far been found,” a senior official of the state medical and health department told IANS on Friday.A team of doctors will visit the areas where cases of swine flu have been detected and will screen the patients suffering from cold, cough and fever. “Samples of patients having symptoms of swine flu will be collected from these areas and will be sent for test,” the officer added.(IANS)
Two held for killing minor
Muzaffarnagar:Two persons have been arrested for allegedly killing a 15-year-old girl at Majlispur village here, police said on Friday. The two accused, identified as Ashok and Sunil Kumar, were arrested yesterday for killing Monita about 16 months ago and the victim’s skeletal remains have been found, SP (crime) Rakesh Kumar said. The girl went missing since September 27, 2013. Police then arrested two people in this connection and sent them to jail. (PTI)
