Marathon held as part of Platinum Jubilee celebration

SHILLONG: As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Dorbar Shnong of Mawlai Mawroh, a marathon was organized to woo the young people of the locality to display their talent in the field of sports beside arranging a rendezvous for all the residents of the  locality.
Attending the sports event as a Chief Guest, District Sports Officer (DSO) George Lyngdoh on Friday congratulated the dorbar shnong for achieving yet another milestone while lauding the participants for displaying their enthusiasm in matters relating to the upliftment of the society.
As many as 30-35 participants ranging from children to adult men and women participated in this event.
The winners were awarded with a trophy along with cash prizes.
Holding on to its theme ‘Unity is Strength’, the members of the dorbar shnong will organize all kinds of programme this whole year with a purpose to instill a sense of unity and brotherhood among the residents of thelocality.
It may be mentioned that the opening ceremony of this year-long platinum jubilee celebrated was held on January 24 in the presence of IPR Minister AL Hek and Mawlai legislator Embhah Syiemlieh and Mawroh Rangbah Shnong Peter G Lamare, besides the former rangbah shnong, secretary, executive members and others.
