Teenage girl gangraped in moving car
Bareilly (UP):A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by four persons in a moving car in Faridpur township of the district, police said on Friday. The girl was on her way to school yesterday when four SUV-borne youths abducted and raped her inside the vehicle and later left her with a warning of dire consequences if she revealed of the incident to anyone, police said. After reaching home, the girl narrated the incident to her family following which an FIR was registered against the four accused, they said. The victim was sent for medical examination which confirmed rape, police said. Two of the four accused have been arrested and a case under the POCSO act has also been registered against them, SP Rural Brijesh Srivastava said. Meanwhile, the incident has triggered protest among the locals who have alleged that the police delayed in lodging the complaint and taking action in the case. (PTI)
IED found from naxal-hit area in Chhattisgarh
Raipur:A 6 kg pressure bomb, planted by naxals to harm security personnel, was found in Maoist-hit Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday. The explosives, packed in a steel container was placed beneath the land near a tree on Bijepar-Jhadikhairi village road that passes through restive forests under Chhuriya police station limits, Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Shukla said. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and district force was yesterday dispatched on an anti-naxal operation towards Jhadikhairi village, around 150 kms away from here, he said. Ahead of Jhadikhairi, security forces spotted the IED and was immediately destroyed by the bomb disposal squad, averting a major mishap, Shukla said, adding, it was planted by rebels to target security personnel during their operation. 5 members of dacoit gang arrested in Punjab
Moga:Five members of a dacoit gang were on Friday arrested from here and stolen vehicles seized from them, police said. On a tip off, police arrested the gang members and seized two stolen motor cycles, two country made pistols, iron roads and other sharpedged weapons from their possession. Moga Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jatinder Singh Khaira said that a police team conducted raid and arrested the accused when they were planning a major strike. The accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh, kingpin of the gang, Baljinder Singh, Nikka Singh, Baldev Singh and Sukhraj. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang members were responsible for a number of robberies, snatching of tractor trolly, robbing of money and gold ornaments in Moga district, police said. Swine flu kills five more in Rajasthan, toll now 73
Jaipur:Five more deaths due to swine flu were reported in Rajasthan on Thursday, taking the toll since the beginning of the year to 73, officials said.”The deaths were reported from Jaipur, Dausa and Jodhpur. Besides, 19 more people tested positive on Thursday for swine flu,” a health department official said. The disease has created panic in the state, and over 270 people on Thursday reached the state’s largest government-run SMS Hospital in Jaipur for swine flu tests. An official said that till Wednesday, 437 people tested positive for the H1N1 virus, with the maximum of 152 from Jaipur. There were also reports of shortage of tablets used for treating H1N1 virus from many areas.(IANS)
Medical college employee found dead with throat slit
Muzaffarnagar:The body of a 38-year-old college canteen employee was found with his throat slit at Begrajpur village here, police said on Friday. Basant, an employee in the canteen of Medical College of Begrajpur was found dead in the fields at Begrajpur village on Friday. He was murdered by slitting his throat, they said. The victim had been missing for a day prior to the crime, police said, adding that a case has been registered against Billu who has been absconding since the incident.(PTI)
