An empty truck travelling towards Nongstoin from Shillong drove off the road and fell into a gorge when the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle. The incident happened at Mawmaram under Mairang Block, West Khasi Hills District on February 11 at 2pm. The driver Banteilang Nongsiej (20, M) and Wanjoplang Nongsiej (28, M) were shifted to Sohiong CHC and then to Woodland Hospital, Shillong.
A driver of a Jeep sustained injuries when the vehicle hit a Mahindra pick-up truck first and then dashed into a piled-up red mud on the side of the road. The jeep was heading towards Nongpoh when the incident happened at Karbalu under Umsning Block, Ri Bhoi District on February 10 at 8:20pm. Lanscious Lyngdoh (23, M) was shifted to Umsning CHC.
In the above cases the 108 Emergency Service Ambulances based in different parts of the State helped in shifting the injured persons to the nearest health centre.
