SHILLONG: The FKJGP concluded its year-long silver jubilee celebrations at a function at the U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Friday.
The organization was formed in 1989 with the objective to “fight for the cause of the indigenous tribes of the State”.
In these 25 years, the federation has raised many social issues which required government intervention. It has also produced leaders like Health and Family Minister AL Hek, Nongkrem legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit, former cabinet minister Founder S Cajee among others who have been greatly successful in their political careers.
While speaking at the concluding ceremony, Hek called upon the members of the federation to continue their service to the communities.
Recalling the initial years of the federation, Health and Family Welfare Minister narrated the various incidents when the members had to face many hurdles right from transportation to communication.
“We had to travel from one village to another to call upon the youth to render their service for the betterment of the society and those (Contd on P-10)
