SHILLONG: In the wake of loss of lives to swine flu in several parts of the country, no case of the flu has been reported from anywhere in Meghalaya so far.
The State health department, however, is not taking any chance and is geared to tackle any outbreak, Joint Director of Health, Dr. RO Budnah said on Sunday, while asserting that the department would conduct a meeting shortly to chalk out strategies and adopt preventive measures to ensure that swine flu does not enter Meghalaya. “Swine flu is curable. It is a seasonal flu and people should immediately approach the doctor on witnessing its symptoms,” he said.
Swine flu spreads mainly through human to human contact and so individuals have to be vigilant and responsible. If anyone develops flu like symptoms they should isolate themselves and get themselves tested, he added.
