Two held by Assam cops in GH

TURA: Two locals from a border village in South West Garo Hills district have been arrested by Assam police from Mahendraganj area in an operation on Thursday morning.
The two suspects were travelling from Purakhasia area towards Mahendraganj border town of the same district when their vehicle was intercepted by a team of Assam police personnel who took them into custody and headed back to the neighbouring state.
“It was an operation by Assam police to nab some ULFA suspects and we were informed about it,” said district police chief R Muthu from Ampati.
The two suspects have been identified as Salman N Marak and Kimberth Ch Sangma.
